In a climate of religious cheerfulness, the sequence of Orthros was performed and then the Divine Liturgy after the Divine Sermon, the first Sunday of the Triodion, in I.N.. of Agia Kyriaki Mykonos, minister of His Eminence Protopresbyter Fr. Emmanuel Galanaki, with the praying presence of the Mykonian faithful.
Pharisee, Holy, far be it,
For Christ is in the end, ᾧ humble and acceptable.

GOSPEL (Luke. ιη΄ 10-14) / Gospel Reading
The Reading is from the Gospel According to Luke 18:10-14
The Lord told this parable, two people went up to the sanctuary and prayed, the one a Pharisee and the other a publican. the Pharisee stood up to himself, this is what God prayed, I thank you that I am not like the rest of the people, grabs, unjust, adulterers, or even like this publican I fast on the Sabbath, I always tithe what I own. and the tax collector from afar did not want even his eyes to the sky anymore, but they knocked on his chest saying God, be merciful to me a sinner. I say you, did this one come down to his own house, for he who exalts himself humbles himself, and he who humbles himself is exalted.
The first Sunday of the Triod is dedicated to the very instructive parable of the Publican and the Pharisee, whereby the main narrated, in order to teach the theophilic virtue of humility and to adorn the Luciferian arrogance. He taught this parable "to their conviction af’ yourselves that you are righteous, and exhausting others" (Luke 18,9).

Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee today, which got its name from the renowned evangelical passage of the Publican and Pharisee, we heard in today's Gospel reading.
On this Sunday the Church, introduces us to the Pre-Lenten Season. Triodium is called the Liturgical Book of our Church which includes the Sunday Hymns, from the Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee until the Great Saturday before the Resurrection Ceremony.
So called because most rules of Matins (morning Sequence) contain three Odes while usually they contain nine Odes – on the 8th and 9th always, after successively one of the top five.
Through the period of the Triodion, our Church invites we to follow a spiritual path, which will lead us to the Passion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
