On the 2nd Sunday of Easter, 30 April 2023, was celebrated in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Megali Panagia, in the country of Mykonos, the Memory of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, those pious women, which attended the teaching and public activity of Jesus Christ. With characteristic devotion, they took care of and anointed Jesus' body with perfumes during his burial and claimed to be the first to be informed by the angel of His Resurrection. That is why, in their honor, this day is called Sunday of Myrrh-bearers.
In the surrounding Holy Metropolitan Church, Orthros was performed and then Divine Liturgy by the High Priestly Commissioner of Delos and Mykonos, in the afternoon at the Holy Monastery of Paleokastro Ano Mera Mykonos. Petro Marago, co-officiant of the archpriest Fr. Georgiou Kousathanas, with the co-praying presence of Mykonian Believers.
"The dance of your disciples and fragrant women rejoice together, common thanks to them we celebrate in the glory and honor of his resurrection and through them we, philanthropist Lord, give your people great mercy".
Myrrh bearers are the women who followed the Lord together with his Mother, they stayed with her during the hour of the saving passion and took care to anoint the Lord's body with myrrh. That is, when Joseph and Nicodemus asked and’ they received from Pilate the despotic body, they took it down from the cross, they wrapped it in shrouds along with fine perfumes, they placed it in a carved monument and’ they placed a large stone over the door of the monument, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary who sat across from the tomb were present, according to the evangelist Mark. Alli Maria definitely meant the Mother of God. They were not the only ones present, but also many other women as Luke mentions.

Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, Joseph of Arimathea came, happy parliamentarian, who also was accepting the kingdom of God, you dared to go to Pilate and the body of Jesus was exposed. But Pilate wondered if he had already been born, and inviting the centurion, they asked him if he had already died; and with the knowledge of the centurion, the body was donated to Joseph. And you bought a shroud and put him in the shroud and put him in a monument, which was hewn out of stone, and rolled a stone over the door of the monument. But Mary Magdalene and Mary Joseph see where it is set. And after the sabbath day Mary Magdalene and Mary of James and Salome bought perfumes so that they might come and anoint him. And just before one Sabbath they come to the monument, rising sun. The blessed Joseph, Your immortal body was made of wood, a shroud of pure linen and fragrance, in memory of a new one, You were laid to rest, but you rose in three days, Lord, providing the world with great mercy.
Heteron Apolytikion
Those smelly women, despite the memory you believe, the Angel was born; the myrrh to mortals is competent; but Christ, the corrupter, was shown to be alien; but you cried out; the Lord is risen, providing the world with great mercy.
The Sunday of Myrophores hides within it another greater celebration, the celebration of a second Annunciation of the Virgin Mary the celebration of her Annunciation as Mother of the new creation as Mother of the children of the resurrection.
