Archbishop of America Elpidophoros on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of M. Λ. King: "The fight for racial justice and equality continues"
"It is the duty of all of us to renew our commitment to unite against racism showing its hideous face again in our world". Archbishop of America Elpidophoros makes this point with his post on social media, in celebration of Martin Luther King Day, at 15 January, which is for the United States of America a federal holiday and mainly an official day of offering to the communities in the constant struggle of the equality and equality of all people, regardless of discrimination.
As the Archbishop of America notes, "Dr. Martin Luther King, leading figure in the struggle for human freedoms and political and social rights, it would be this year 94 years, if he lived".
As he finally points out, "the struggle for racial justice and equality continues until that beautiful day when we all realize that we are all one in Christ".
The 1968, and while he was still planning a march to Washington, the "March of the Poor", was murdered on 4 April in Memphis (Tennessee). King posthumously received many honors including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal. The 1986, the 15th of January (the day of his birth) declared a public holiday in the USA.
