The Archbishop of America Elpidophoros has been in Fanari since the day before yesterday, who even participated in the scheduled regular session of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the month of January.

The Archbishop of America will attend the first meeting of the joint committee to review the current Constitution of the Archdiocese of America tomorrow, whose goal is the most efficient and better coverage of the needs of the Greek Orthodox believers in the United States of America, as the Archdiocese enters its second century of life.

As noted in a relevant announcement, the Archdiocese of America as a province of the Ecumenical See of Constantinople, has received to date during its hundred-year history, five Constitutions. After all, the process of revisions, was carried out with the utmost care, Concern, thoroughness and prudence, so that the current pastoral needs of our Church in America are addressed, for each time period.

indeed, last year, year celebrating the centennial of the Archdiocese of America and in conjunction with the July lay assembly in New York, the views of the faithful were captured in a meeting devoted to the Constitution, in which all representatives participated, clergy and laity. It was recognized by all that a new vision must take shape, in order to maintain the ongoing spiritual growth and well-being of the Archdiocese and its flock. For this purpose, our Ecumenical Patriarchate proceeded to establish the joint commission for the revision of the current Constitution, in the context of the constant concern for dealing with the spiritual demands of the times, but also the practical needs of a constantly evolving Greek Orthodox community in America.

The completion of the project has been undertaken by a group of highly distinguished hierarchs, clergy and laity, that represent, both the Ecumenical Patriarchate, as well as the Archdiocese of America.
