The MP of Cyclades, N.D., Katerina Monogyiou, attended, today is Thursday 01 September 2022, at the solemn High Priestly Vespers organized by the Administration and the National Guardsmen of the 2nd National Guard Company / TEH Ermoupolis, for the celebration of Agios Mamados, patron of the National Guard, in the presence of His Eminence the Metropolitan of Thira, Mr. Amfilohiou, in Messaria, Santorini.
On Thursday 1 September the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thira Amorgos and Islands Mr. Amfilochios officiated at the celebratory Holy Church of Agios Mamandos, which is located in Messaria, Santorini and is the patron of the National Guard of Thira, at the expense of which the complete renovation of the Holy Church has been completed.
Before the start of the Holy service, the Holy relic of Agios Mamandos was received,which was ordered by the fathers of the Holy Monastery of Prophet Ilios of Thira after the permission of the Professor of the Holy Monastery p. Damaskinos Gavalas.
After the blessing of the offered breads and the traditional feast, His Eminence appointed the most venerable young Anastasios Tsitlakidis as reader, Pharmacy student.
In his sermon, His Holiness referred to the life and state of Agios Mamandos, as well as the value of the testimony of all of us in modern society, praised the vicar of Messaria and high priestly commissioner of Thira Fr. Evangelos Fusteris, as well as the men of the National Guard of Thira for the zeal they showed in the beautification and renovation of the Chapel of Agios Mamados.
