Panagia Myrtidiotissa is called the icon of Panagia, found in Kythera probably in the 14th century. She has the nickname Myrtidiotissa, for it is mentioned by tradition that a shepherd found her in a place full of myrtles. Today by this name the churches are called, single and generally the icons depicting the Virgin Mary with myrtles. The icon is kept in the Holy Monastery of Myrtidia in Kythira.
Immediately after the Divine Liturgy, a gift and bread were distributed and wishes were exchanged.. Then his family Barba Yiannis Zouganelis offered a hearty Mykonian treat with traditional dishes to all the faithful, in the courtyard area of the Estate “Roots”. The instrumentalists of the island music participated Michalis Kounanis “Babelis” in Sabuna and Nikos Zouganelis “Nikolarides” in Tumbaki.
Sincere and heartfelt thanks, with special mention, in the family of Barba Yiannis Zouganelis “Nikolarides”, continuers and custodians of the long and strong tradition of the Mykonians.
