In a highly symbolic move, archbishop of America Elpidophoros will honor his two living predecessors who served as archbishops of America, Spyridon and Dimitrios, during the opening ceremony of the 46th Clergy Assembly of the Archdiocese of America in New York, at 4 July 2022, which will be broadcast live on the social media of the Archdiocese of America.
Both hierarchs additionally accepted the archbishop's invitation to attend and participate in the historic ceremony of the inauguration of the performance in divine worship of the national pilgrimage, of the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos at the Zero Point, in the morning of the same day.
As Archbishop Elpidophoros stated, "it is a special blessing that we will have with us two of the eight men who have led the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in the last 100 years and even at the moment of celebrating this jubilee. We thank both of our acting archbishops and together we envision the second centenary of our Archdiocese", underlined.
"We are living in a historic moment of healing the wounds of the past, unity, reconciliation, of peace and we must all move forward together 100 years as an Archdiocese united in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ", he stressed.
