Holy Gospel – ACCORDING TO LUCAN IϚ´ 19 – 31
19 He was a rich man, and he rose purple and purple, rejoicing brightly by day. 20 and there was a poor man named Lazarus, who was brought to his gate wounded 21 and lustfully he was satisfied with the crumbs of the drinkers from the rich man's table; but the dogs also came and healed his sores. 22 And it came to pass that the poor man died, and he was prevented by the angels into the bosom of Abraham; and the rich man also died and was buried. 23 and in the sight of his eyes, existing in suffering, Abraham saw from afar and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And this voice of yours said: Father Abraham, have mercy on me and five Lazarus to paint the tip of his finger with this water and freeze my tongue, that I suffer in this flame. 25 And Abraham said, son, remember that you yourself received your goods in your life, And Lazarus in the same way the evil ones; but now here he is begging, but you are in pain; 26 and on all these between us and you a great gulf rests, As those who want to cross over to you, they cannot, let not those from there break through to us. 27 he said; I am asking you then, father, that you may bring him to my father's house; 28 For I have five brothers, as he complains to them, So that they too will not come to this place of suffering. 29 Abraham said to him: they have Moses and the prophets; they listened to them. 30 And he said: no, Father Abraham, But if he raises them from the dead, he will go to them, repent. 31 He said to him: They do not listen to Moses and the prophets, not if they are convinced that he will rise from the dead.

One of the reasons why the rich man in today's Gospel passage was criticized was for his unfriendliness, the cruelty with which he behaved towards that poor Lazarus, who was lying outside the gate of his house. While he was enjoying all the goods of his wealth, he had a luxurious residence, he wore bright clothes, he ate and drank daily, poor Lazarus was there wounded , perpetually hungry outside his door and trying to get his fill of the few crumbs, that fell from the rich man's table. So it was the selfishness of the rich man that led him to be condemned and rejected by God. Because the reason why the Lord uttered the parable was the cauterization of the misuse of wealth and because again the Lord taught that, whoever offers from his good to the needy offers it to him we will talk today about our offering to the Lord through our brothers.

The sacred hymns were very eloquently performed by the cantor Antonios Xydakis

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, in an atmosphere of deep emotion, the Holy four-day Memorial was held, for the repose of the soul of the late Marousos Kypraios.
