Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will celebrate the 60th anniversary of his ordination to the ministry in Imbro, which was held on 13 August 1961, to I.. Metropolitan Church of Panagia.
His Holiness, which is expected to arrive in Imbro on Friday, 6 August, Early in the afternoon, will participate in the festive events organized by the Diocese of Imbros and Tenedos to honor the 60 years since Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew entered the priesthood.
During his stay, he will officiate in the temples of his village, in Agios Theodoros, as well as the other villages, and a Memorial Service will be held for the repose of the souls of his late parents and all those who benefited him. The highlight will be the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy that will be performed on Friday, 13 August, to I.. Metropolitan Church of Panagia, where he was ordained a deacon.
also, the Patriarch will celebrate the opening of the doors of three Holy Chapels in the area of Malaki Schinoudi, in Evlabio and Agridia. Yet, will inaugurate a painting exhibition in Agioi Theodorou and two photography exhibitions, the first by Stylianos Charalambidis, entitled "Wildflowers of the Athos and Imbros Peninsula", in Agridia, and the second by Cevahir Buğu and Vassos Xeinou, entitled "The Imbros of the Patriarch", in Schinoudi.
On Wednesday, 11 August, the Patriarch will attend the lecture of professor Dr. Arne Strid on "The botanical exploration of Greece and Mount Athos", which will take place in the University Auditorium, and the next day, Thursday, 12 August, will establish the "Patriarch Bartholomew" School Park in Agios Theodoros. Reception of the Relics of Agios Nikolaos from the Holy Temple of Agios Nikolaos Syros, 13 August, will attend the Concert of the "Kassiani the Hymnographer" Choir of I. Metropolis of Neapolis and Stavroupolis, which will complete the events in honor of the Holy Father.
