The first Sunday of the Triodion is dedicated to teaching the parable of the Publican and Pharisee, whereby the main narrated, to teach the virtue of humility and condemned the arrogance.

Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee today, which got its name from the renowned evangelical passage of the Publican and Pharisee, we heard in today's Gospel reading. On this Sunday the Church, introduces us to the Pre-Lenten Season. This period starts today and includes four weeks before Lent, the five weeks of Lent as and Saturday of Lazarus and the Holy Week and ends on Holy Saturday. Through the period of the Triodion, our Church invites we to follow a spiritual path, which will lead us to the Passion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
