Ioannina celebrated the Holy Memory of Saint Maximus the Confessor
In the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Athanasios of Ioannina, a Polyhierarchical Divine Liturgy was held this morning in honor of the holy memory of Saint Maximus the Confessor, overriding of the agent ……..the Nomenclature of the parish Pastor, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Ioannina Mr. Maximus, and co-ministers of the Venerable Metropolitans of Nafpaktos, Mr. Ierotheou, Syros. Dorotheou B, Neas Ionias Mr. Gabriel and Glyfadas Mr. Antoniou, with the participation of many Clergy from the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina and other regions of Greece, representatives of local authorities,of Mr. Mayor,of the vice-mayors,of Mr. District Governor, of the Deputy Governor,of the General of the Greek Police and a crowd of believers.
The divine word was preached theologically and spiritually by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios and. Hierotheos, who referred to the simplicity of character and the humble attitude of the life of Saint Maximus, in his theology and his struggles against Monothelitism, stressing that these took place within the Church and its Synodical System, and ended by saying that only when the Church theologizes and Theology is ecclesiastical then the orthodox opinion is recognized and prevails.
Before the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Ioannina Mr. Maximos thanked the High Priests with warm words, the Clergy and the People for their prayerful presence.
