Recognized, so, the nascent Greek state, that these three Fathers, those descended from the burning ones, today, lands of the East, with their teachings they allowed the then newly founded Christian Church of the 4th AD. century to change, to eliminate the phobia against ancient Greek letters, to overcome all incarceration in itself and thus achieve its establishment as a universal religion.
But, the Three Hierarchs were not highlighted so much by their actions and writings, as much as their morals, morality of free-thinking people.
During the period when the Emperor Julian, the selected Offender, imposed the total return to the ancient Greek spirit, encouraging the Christians, the three teachers not only had the fortitude to remain steadfast in Christian truths, but also the power to turn to Greek education, achieving the synthesis of Christian truth with ancient Greek beauty and displaying with their attitude a proud courage against the brutal forces of their time.
This fact, maybe, it seems unimaginable today that a Europe that until now did not seek its spiritual convergence and avoided any spiritual coloring.
What the European countries seem to have been after was power and wealth, so the peoples in their turn, using every legal and illegal means, they invested their hopes of happiness in the frenzied frenzy of acquiring material possessions.
Nevertheless, because "the insatiability of wealth and the hunger of glory" have no end, Europe began to fear.
The financial figures are huge on our backs, the centers of power remain unknown, the prospects for our sacrifices are bleak and the end goal frightening, because the cost that will be required seems to be terrible and will lead us to an "other Europe", different from the visions of its founders and the hopes of its peoples.
European integration is already being hit hard by the economic and refugee problem, which unprepared faces.
As political and economic convergence moves further and further away, with as yet undefined consequences for Europe and its peoples, remains as the last hope, most, the spiritual convergence.
A spiritual and moral convergence, with great personalities as role models and guides, with a universal timeless reason that unites without exclusions, personalities-shareholders and holders of humanitarian education, wherever it comes from, from ancient Greece, Rome or Christianity, of an education, which serves man and his needs and gives purpose, meaning and perspective in human life, personalities, just like Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom.
To stop, Well, Europe to be afraid, the only solution for its peoples is to return to the Fathers of the ages, common, spiritual tradition, who treated with respect the positive sciences of their time, they acquired all knowledge that did not idolize itself, they freed scientific research and thought, they revived theology, without requiring the sacrifice of reason, they served the subsistence needs of their fellow men, they relegated absolute power to the levels of the ministry of the people, they spoke to all people, without exclusions, they wrote inviting to universal concerns, overturned centuries-old "bad texts", regardless of the consequences, they defied Authorities and Authorities, when they exceeded their worldly limits, functioned as God's priests "for the universal world", they lived frugally, ascetics, beautiful and with humble attitude and morals, they ignored those who threatened their biological life, they "grabbed" their world, in their time, and they offered them to God, they felt God and pointed Him to the people, they established laws that liberate and rules that correct, they came, they lived, they left, and their traces remain indelible.
The three Hierarchs, they are familiar, accepted figures of our common European cultural tradition, before the schism. They were coming, they drew and irrigated from the Hellenized Roman empire, whose borders were roughly the same as the borders of today's Europe….
Europe is already waiting for us, not with empty hands, begging for loans, but with hands full, ready to offer the European "Bank of Ideas" the Greek bonds….
And our "intellectual bonds" are very "high" in the international stock markets, it is the eternal light of Christ and the oxygen of our Greek tradition and education, bonds, that no one will ever be able to "cut"….
