Emilios Polygenes writes
As it is known, on October 20, the memory of the Saint is solemnly celebrated in Mykonos and the inhabitants of the island consider Saint Artemios their patron.
However, although attempts were made in the past, the Greek State had not officially recognized the patron of the island, in order that…….. to establish the day of its celebration as a holiday.
Just three days before the feast of Saint Artemios, the 20th of October holiday is officially established in Mykonos by Presidential Decree.
Finally, it should be mentioned that the issue took its course after the actions of the Metropolitan of Syros, Mr. Dorotheos and the Vice President of the South Aegean Regional Council Konstantinos Koukas.
