The establishment of an anonymous company with the name Ecclesiastical Real Estate Development Company S.A.. (EAEAP) the government is pushing forward with an amendment to the law on the Code of Public Property and Educational Inheritance. The amendment is signed by the Ministers of Finance and Education…The duration of the EAEAP is 99 years, will be governed by the legal regime for S.A., while in equity, where will it be 300.000 euro, will be against 50% the Greek State and v 50% the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.

The exclusive purpose of the EAEAP is the exploitation and management of the properties over which it retains property rights or which are administered and managed by the Holy Archdiocese of Athens or legal persons or entities under its jurisdiction.

 
It is also provided the possibility of transferring the management rights to the EAEAP, management and utilization of other properties over which they retain property rights or which other legal entities exercise administration and management (metropolises, monasteries, Apostolic Ministry etc.).

The revenues of EAEAP (in exchange for real estate development, interest, dividends etc.) will be attributed to the State and the Archdiocese, while the possibility of allocating the specific revenues of the Archdiocese to the EAEAP is also foreseen.

The term of office of the Board of Directors will be five years (with the possibility of simultaneous renewal), its members will be five. One member will be nominated by the finance minister, one from the Minister of Education and three from the Archdiocese of Athens.

The properties will be transferred to EAEAP with the conclusion of a relevant contract between EAEAP and the owner of the property as the case may be, without compensation and free of charge, without paying any tax, fee or other burden for a period of time which cannot exceed 99 years.

They are also exempt from tax, fee or other charge the income attributed to the persons who granted the rights they had on the properties.
