The first Sunday of the Triod is dedicated to the very instructive parable of the Publican and the Pharisee, whereby the main narrated, in order to teach the theophilic virtue of humility and to adorn the Luciferian arrogance. He taught this parable «προς τινας τους πεποιθότας αφ’ εαυτοίς ότι εισί δίκαιοι, and exhausting others" (Luke 18,9).
