The decision to monitor the issue of same-sex marriage was taken by the Permanent Holy Synod, which completed its two days' work today, Thursday (14.12.23) under Archbishop Hieronymos.

As stated by the Permanent Holy Synod, "was informed about the issue of the marriage of same-sex couples and decided to monitor the issue and, depending on the developments, to be examined by the Holy Synod of the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece".

Metropolitan of Serres and Nigritis Mr. Theologian, being replaced by Rev. Metropolitan of Ilios, Acharnon and Petroupoleos etc. Athinagorou, and Members: 1) Rev. Metropolitan of Corinth Mr. Dionysus, being replaced by Rev. Metropolitan of Maroneia and Komotini Mr. Panteleimonos, 2) Rev. The Permanent Holy Synod expresses its pleasure to Rev. Metropolitan of Samos and Ikaria Mr. Pious, as former President of the Steering Committee of E.K.Y.O., as well as to its retired Members, for their fruitful and fruitful ministry during their tenure.

– He was informed by the Synodal Committee on Heresies about the work and findings of the 3rd Pan-Orthodox Conference of Authorized Orthodox Churches and Holy Metropolises on Heresies and Parareligion issues, which took place in the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus, from 31 October to 2 November, on the subject: "Old Testament: Doubts, misinterpretations and polemics".

– He was informed about the work and findings of the 4th Monastic Congress, which was organized by the Holy Metropolis of Lefkada and Ithaca at the Holy Monastery of Faneromeni Lefkada, on the subject: "Orthodox Monasticism and the dangers of secularization".

– Approved the Revenue Budget – Financial year management expenses 2024 of the Panhellenic Holy Pilgrimage "PANAGIA SOUMELA".

– He approved, in view of the Christmas holidays, the additional financial support of the recently affected Holy Metropolises of Thessaly, by the amount of 100.000 euro.

During the recess of the Session on 13 December he gave his assurance, before the Blessed Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Mr. Jerome, the Most Theophilous Bishop of Salona, ​​Mr. Ignatius.
