The Transfiguration of the Savior is an event from the life of Jesus Christ, in which Christ, after climbing a mountain with Peter's disciples, John and James, he was transformed and shone with glory. It is described in the Synoptic Gospels, while it is also mentioned in the Second Epistle of Peter. also, it is considered that the beginning of the Gospel of John refers to it.

According to these reports, Jesus together with three of the apostles, Peter, James and John, they climbed a mountain (the term of the Transfiguration, which is traditionally identified as Mount Tabor) for prayer. On top of the mountain the three apostles sat down to rest and slept. When they awoke they saw Jesus shining with a brilliant light and his clothes had become white.

Two men were talking with him, Moses and the Prophet Elias. Then a cloud covered them and a voice from heaven was heard saying "This is my beloved son; listen to him", that is, this is my son, listen to him
