Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the 1st Ecumenical Council
On the 7th Sunday from Easter, our Church honors the holy memory of the Saints 318 of God-bearing Fathers, of the constituents 325 A.D. the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea.
Their memory was honored with due splendor 318 Holy Theophorous Fathers of the congregants in Nicaea, the First Ecumenical Council, the Holy Cathedral of the Holy Virgin, on Sunday 28 May 2023.

The synod convened at the invitation of Constantine the Great in the twentieth year of his reign and lasted 3,5 years. Distinguished figures of the synod were Alexander of Constantinople, Alexander of Alexandria, Athanasios the Great, Eustathius of Antioch, Makarios of Jerusalem, Paphnutius, Spyridon, Nikolaos.
The Holy and First Ecumenical Council condemned Arius and Arianism. It registered the first seven articles of the Creed, through which our faith in the Holy and consubstantial Trinity is strengthened, the consubstantiality of the Son with the Father is proclaimed, and the truth that the Son became man is clearly stated, hire the human race, born of the Holy Spirit and of the Immortal Mary.

Yet, the First Ecumenical Council, determined a common day of Easter celebration, as well as the way in which this day will be calculated and found, Easter's.
The conclusions and terms of the Synod were signed by more than 318 Holy Fathers, but this number prevailed, for symbolic reasons.
The Bishops present at the Synod were accompanied by junior clergy whose total number amounted to three or four times as many Bishops.
