Gospel Reading
The Reading is from the Gospel According to Mark 10:32-45
Gospel Reading: Mark. 10, 32-45

And they were on the way up to Jerusalem: and Jesus went before them, and was amazed, and following were afraid. and when he received the twelve again, he came to them and told them the future, this is what happens, that, behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the son of man is delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and condemn him to death and deliver him to the Gentiles, and they play with him and they whip him and they dip him and they get him, and on the third day he is resurrected. And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approach him, saying: Master, we want that if we ask you to do for us. And he said to them: What do you want to do with you?; And they said unto him, O Lord, let us be at thy right hand, and at thy right hand, and let us sit in thy glory.. And Jesus said to them: Behold what you ask. You can drink the glass while I drink, and the baptism I am baptized is baptized; And they said to him: Strength. And Jesus said to them: I drink from my cup, strain it, and the baptism I am baptized, be baptized; but you sit at my right hand and euonymous, I do not give, but we are getting ready. and when the ten heard it, they became indignant about James and John. and Jesus, having invited them, says to them: You see that the rulers of the nations rule over them, and their great ones rule over them; no, it is not so among you., but if he will, he will be great among you, he is your minister, And if he wants you, he will be born first, be a servant always: for the son of man is ministered unto whithersoever he came, but minister and see his soul a ransom for many.

Today's Gospel passage it has been chosen by our Church so as to prepare us for the passion and death of Christ, which are approaching and begin next Sunday with the triumphal entry of Christ into Jerusalem. The preparation of the disciples for the events that will follow are Christ's main concern. For this reason we see him speaking to them more often about the things that are soon to follow so that they will not be offended and lose their faith.

Saint Mary of Egypt, it is an example of repentance, because while he led a profligate life, then he repented, he loved Christ and followed a strict ascetic life in the desert.
The life of Saint Mary of Egypt gives us the opportunity to attempt a spiritual reboot and renewal. Because we have been seduced by the carnal mind and have tarnished the image of God, resulting in the loss of our freedom and our enslavement to the passions of shame.

The power of repentance as we saw it expressed through the suffering face of Mary of Egypt is so great and powerful that it has the ability to transform the slave of sin into a divine image and bring him back from the fringes of life to the communion of love and holiness.

but he also asks for the prayers of the Church for them:
