The Great Royal Hours of the Epiphany were celebrated with rejoicing in the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Great Virgin of Mykonos, on Thursday morning 05 January 2023.
The consecration Mass was performed by the High Priest of the temple, His Eminence Fr. Petros Maragos, flanked by Fr. George Kousathanas.
The pre-holiday hymns of the great Feast of Lights were rendered by the Hieropsaltis of I.N. Stelios Biggos.
Completing the Holy Twelve Days period, that is, the festive cycle of the Surfaces of the incarnate Son and Word of God, of Jesus Christ, the Feast of the Epiphany or commonly the Lights is found in the calendar of our Church, during which we remember the Baptism of the Lord, at the age of thirty, from John the Baptist, in the Jordan River. A special element of the ecclesiastical celebration of the Lights is the performance of the Great and Royal Hours sequence, on the eve of Epiphany.
