With due ecclesiastical order and magnificence, the feast of the Nativity of Christ was celebrated in the churches and holy monasteries of the Holy Metropolis of Messinia. The focus of the celebration is the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Intercession of Christ Kalamata, where Rev. Metropolitan of Messinia Mr. Chrysostomos flanked by Protopresbyters Kresfontis Poulopoulos and Sotirios Tzailea and Deacons Theofilos Kyriakos and Ilias Diamantopoulos. From the Local Authorities, the Regional Governor of Peloponnese, Mr. Pan. Nikas, the Mayor of Kalamata Mr. Ath. Vassilopoulos, the representatives of the minorities of the Municipality, Mr. Vasil. Kosmopoulos and Vassil. Jamouranis, the Deputy Governors Mr. Eust. Anastasopoulos and Andr. Tsoukalas, the Deputy Mayor Mr. George. Favvas and the President of the Kalamata Community Mr. Pan. Lyra.
Before the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness referred to the message of the Christmas holiday (see. related. video), emphasizing characteristically how "Christmas is not an ideology" and that we should not sacrifice our faith and traditions on the altar of a "so-called religious freedom" which, however, limits the boundaries of the religious freedom of Christians only.
