The South Aegean Region, the Holy Metropolis of Syros and the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Great Virgin Mary of Mykonos co-organized and presented with great success tonight at the "Grypario Cultural Center" of Mykonos an Artistic and Cultural Event for the 100 years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe, entitled "The Smyrnaean Songs" and performed by the distinguished performer Pantelis Thalassinos.
The Event, coordinated by the Head of the Holy Metropolitan Church and Hierarchical Commissioner of Mykonos and Delos Protopr. Petros Maragos, attended by the Most Reverend Metropolitans of Ioannina, Mr. Maximos and Syrou Mr. Dorotheos II, elected officials and most Mykonians, who participated with great enthusiasm and sang together with the Artist the "Smyrnaean Songs".
Protopresbyter Petros Maragos prefaced the event, welcomed the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Ioannina Mr. Maximus and thanked those who contributed to its success.
His Eminence the Metropolitan of Ioannina congratulated the Mykonians for their multiple activities and underlined that today's Event is an opportunity to give the numerous visitors of the island their Greek Orthodox Testimony.
At the end of the Event, His Excellency Mr. Δωρόθεος Β’ συνεχάρη τον Πρωτοπρεσβύτερο Πέτρο Μαραγκό, for all his labors and care and Mr. Panteli Seafood, to whom he offered an icon of Saint Neomartyros Manuel and his associates as well as those who contributed to its perfect organization.
