A message of good neighborliness based on mutual respect and freedom, sent from Chios which is visited by the Archbishop of America Mr.. Promising.
Shortly before he worshiped at the ossuary of Agios Minas where the remains of the victims of the massacre of Chios are kept in 1822 Mr.. He said he was hopeful:
"Let us look worthy of the sacrifice of our fathers and brothers and let our neighbors never repeat the atrocities of the past but let us all learn to live together in peace, with love and fellowship. The sacrifice of these people should not be wasted even for us who enjoy our freedom, thanks to their sacrifice, but also the other side I saw as we came here to the monastery, to understand that these times are over and we must now learn to be civilized, to be good neighbors and a good neighborhood means mutual respect and freedom ".
Also Mr.. Hopeful visited the "Ark of the Aegean", in Aipos of Chios where he met with the children of "Kivotou" and the founder of the organization Father Antonios Papanikolaou.
The Archbishop spoke about his experience as a refugee, just 10 years, leaving with his parents and siblings from Istanbul for Greece. And he asked the children to be proud because they are not to blame for their situation, after paying the sins of the great. "We do not feel sorry for you, we are ashamed of you ", said characteristically to the children Mr.. Promising, while noting that wounded children are the ones who become great and true leaders. "I see an eagle's nest, from which you will emerge like eagles to conquer the world ", The Archbishop of America stressed to the children of the "Ark".
