With a dense meaning and a very strong message on social media, the Archbishop of America Elpidophoros commemorated yesterday the Pontic Hellenic Genocide Remembrance Day. "We remember all those whose lives and cultures were destroyed, the Greeks of Pontus and Asia Minor, the Armenians, the Syrians and all those whose presence was extinguished, as empires fell", stressed Archbishop Elpidoforos. And he added: "Recognizing the sins and iniquities of the past is the way to a better future for all".
indeed, the Archbishop of America participated in the Pontic flag raising event outside the Bowling Green in midtown Manhattan yesterday, just steps away from Wall Street. The highly symbolic event was organized by the Pontic unions of our Homogenia in the United States of America.
We remember those whose lives and cultures were destroyed - Pontic Greeks & Asia Minor, Armenians, Syrians and those who lost their lives with the collapse of empires. Acknowledging the wrongs of the past is the way to a better future for all. pic.twitter.com/spdFAEmrPZ
