The Archbishop of America is rapidly moving forward with the preparation of the new charter of the Archdiocese of America, in implementation of the decisions of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate……..
Yesterday, Archbishop Elpidoforos has set up an advisory committee to gather ideas, thoughts and suggestions from all members of the Archdiocese of America on the new charter and in general on the future course of our Church in the United States of America.
The committee is chaired by the Archbishop himself and the Archbishop of the Ecumenical Patriarchate Michael Psaros, while in it is represented the whole of our Church and more specifically hierarchs, representatives of all Metropolises, senators for Orthodoxy and Hellenism - this is the new body recommended by the Archbishop-, members of the Archdiocesan Council, representatives of the institutions of the Archdiocese, clergy, theologians, academics and other distinguished members of our Greek Diaspora.
"The main task of the advisory committee, notes Mr.. Grizzly, is the formulation of a series of proposals for the improvement of the organization and administration of our Church in America, with a view to the needs of the future ". As he emphasizes, "If the current statutory charter has been revoked by a decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, maintaining the existing status quo is not our choice. "After all, Prof.’ throughout the consultation, The Archdiocese of America will continue to operate as a legal entity applying its regulations. ".
After the end of the work of the advisory committee, The Ecumenical Patriarchate will set up a joint committee of representatives and representatives of the Archdiocese of America, with the aim of finalizing the new charter.
