Grateful for the decisive contribution of women to the progress of the universe and their pivotal role in the life of our Orthodox Church, says the Archbishop of America Hopeful, in a videotaped message he posted on social media, …….on the occasion of Women's History Month, during which the contribution of women to the course of history and their vital role in society are highlighted, both in the United States and throughout the western world.
As the archbishop emphasizes, "Under no circumstances should we limit the recognition of women's valuable work to just one month - the festivities last from March 1st to March 31st.- or in only one country ".
The Prelate of Our Church in America Declares Grateful that Women's History Month Falls in March, month in which the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary is celebrated, «as well as on 25 March the answer of a young woman to God, in a lonely corner of the earth, opened the gates of Paradise for every human being. Archbishop Elpidoforos observes further, that “In our Church, women never hesitate to devote their time and energy to the service of our Lord, with philanthropic funds across America being a stunning example of the truly sacrificial offering of women. The women", continues, "They easily adapt to the requirements and data of the times, are versatile, flexible and determined. And as mothers, daughters and sisters take the lead in creating families and groups ".
As he points out, "Women are the backbone of our parishes in America and they deserve much more than anything we recognize, as without them and their offering our parishes would be dead. "Besides", the archbishop continues, "In the course of history it was the women of our Church who helped sow and cultivate the seeds of faith for the next generation of Christians".
Concluding, Archbishop of America encourages all women in the Archdiocese of America and all Orthodox women around the world to become more involved in the life of our Church, taking on leadership roles in their areas of activity. "The contribution of women, completes, is crucial and necessary in the life of our Church and of the whole world. We need women for our Church today, but also for our Church in the future ".
