In a reply letter to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, US President-elect Joe Biden expresses his warm thanks for the congratulatory letter …………sent to him by His Holiness immediately after his electoral success. In his letter, Mr.. Biden emphasizes to Mr.. Bartholomew that both he and Vice President Kamala Harris look forward to cooperation and future dialogue.
It is noted that in his handwritten postscript the elected President of the USA, writes to the Patriarch: "Be well. We need your leadership ".
particularly, as announced by the Press Office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, in his letter Joe Biden mentions:
"Your Holiness,
Thank you for your kind words and good wishes. I'm sorry because we have not yet had the opportunity to contact you by phone. It is a great honor for me to be the next President of the United States, and I realize exactly how much work lies ahead of us. Vice President-elect Harris and I will take on tasks at a time of great global challenges – from coronavirus to climate change – which cross borders and require international cooperation. We look forward to working with you in this difficult time. Thank you again, Your Holiness. I look forward to a future dialogue.
