Archbishop Ieronymos:The years are wicked, the difficulties too many and more will come

0

In the presence of Archbishop Ieronymos, the festive events for the patron saint of Lamia took place, Saint Luke, αλλά και την απελευθέρωση της πόλης από το στρατεύματα κατοχής των Γερμανών………..

The archbishop was particularly concerned about the developments and called for unity at all levels., emphasizing during the doxology: "I would like to make a wish. Today's meeting symbolizes church-state cooperation. The years are wicked, the difficulties are too many and more will come. The more we are united and the further we go, holding each other's hand uphill, the better we will go. This is all I want to see and I hope you continue, not only in Lamia, Athens but in the whole country and -why not- all over the world".

Previously, the metropolitan of Fthiotida, Συμεών, describing the most comprehensive picture captured in the phase we are going through, I pointed out that “today, as it seems, the clouds of fascism, racism and Nazism are disappearing. Nevertheless, the clouds of virus are before us. We are called by the power of the doctor Saint Luke, with social co-responsibility, to deal with, with social solidarity, seriousness and prudence this difficulty ".

Alongside, the metropolitan of Fthiotida, referring to the Archbishop's contribution both during the financial crisis in recent years and that which is evolving with the pandemic, highlighted the balances sought by the Church leadership by emphasizing: "Archbishop Jerome kept our people united with the work of the Church. Keep the cohesion of society today with the pandemic that may emerge and a new economic and humanitarian crisis, which we avoid but we must be ready, again the meek, the sweet, the calm, the balanced, the moderate, the wise and prudent spiritual leader lives close to the people ".

During his speech, the mayor of Lamia, Thymios Karaiskos, talked about the history of liberation, describing how the city avoided the destruction of all its infrastructure, as an Italian, a German, and a Swede took the initiative.

The first two were cutting the cables that the Germans had prepared for the explosion of basic infrastructure when they left and the last, the Swede, saving the food depots that existed in the area.

Mr.. Karaiskos made special reference to the deepest marks that the area has, which -as he said- "Has paid dearly for the price of division" and noted the need for a "common path, unity and joint action from all sides, so that the whole area makes up for lost time ", as "when all the other peoples were sitting at the table of the winners in our country but also mainly in our region, division prevailed ".

At noon, Archbishop Ieronymos will attend an event to be held in his honor by the Municipality of Lamia and will be declared an honorary citizen of Lamia, while in the afternoon the Center for Creative Employment of Children of the Diocese of Fthiotida will be inaugurated.
