The determination of the "suffering Romanism" not to abandon the good fight to save its presence and testimony in its natural and historical cradle, underlined the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, in his speech, after the Patriarchal and Synodal Divine Liturgy…….., in which it prevailed, for the feast of the Apparitions of the Most Holy Theotokos in the celebrating eponymous Holy Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Constantinople, in the large Crossroads Community.
In his speech, His Holiness, he stressed, including:
"We remain in the “sanctified soils”, because here is the City of Panagia Pammakaristos, the City of our Fathers, the Pansepton Center of Orthodoxy. We continue here, because we were born here, here is our homeland, here everything is familiar and familiar’ us. We love everything, because we know them, and we know them because we love them. Εμμένομεν, because here is our story, our present and our future, the traces and aroma of our culture, because here we are no strangers, and nothing is foreign to us. We live and fight, because that is our irrevocable decision, because we want to keep Thermopylae, “never out of debt non-moving”. Stay at our Pauline, because we believe in the providence of the good God. Here the Lord placed us, and we know that “I love God always cooperates in good” (Rom. the', 28). We continue “always encouraged”, and we call them expatriates abroad, not just to forget their Pauline, but to return to their homeland, where their lives will gain innumerable meaning, new horizons of existential fullness will open in them. Addressed, at the sacred moment, to our young people, who were born elsewhere, we are told that they must discover their roots, to understand that it is a great privilege for’ them to be conscious members of the Greek Diaspora, to take part in her adventures, to contribute to her struggles. Long live the Greek Diaspora, with the Ecumenical Patriarchate as its spiritual Center, the humility of the Genus. The Great Church exercises the orthodox, the inter-Christian, the interfaith, its pacifist ecumenical mission, gives the testimony of the Orthodox faith, of love and hope, before the signs of the times, at the same time it does not care unjustly for the children of the Lord here and in the future, for the subsistence and the building according to Christ ".
With Mr.. Bartholomew was collaborated by the metropolitans of Geron Derkon Apostolos, Tranoupoleos Germanos, Myriophytou and Peristaseos Irineos, Myron Chrysostomos, Ικονίου Θεόληπτος, Kallioupoleos and Madytou Stefanos, American Hopeful and Quince Athenagoras.
The teachers of the Mount Athos Monasteries, Simonos Petras Elissaios and Esfigmenos Bartholomew, also participated in the Divine Liturgy.. During, His Holiness ordained the deacon Konstantinos Taliadouros to the rank of deacon, married and theologian, giving him the name Nikiforos.
In his speech, before the ordination of the new clergyman, the Ecumenical Patriarch referred with emotion to their common origin, from the village of Agioi Theodoroi of Imvros, to the beauties of their particular homeland and to the beautiful chapels built by the piety of its inhabitants, "Which the generation of today's young Imbrians is called to continue and pass on to the later generations, whether they were born in our country or in a foreign country by expatriate Imbrians ".
His Holiness, addressed to the candidate clergyman, he said that he gives him the name Nikiforos, by the Bishop of Amori Nikiforos, Abbot of I.. Monastery of Vlatada, Thessaloniki, who had him under his paternal protection, during his studies at the Aristotle University, but also in honor of the blessed metropolitan Nikiforos Glykas, from Glyki of Imvros, who after teaching at the Theological School of Halki, became metropolitan of Imvros and later of Mithymna in Lesvos. She even urged him to imitate the blessed priest of their village, Pi. Star, who served on 40 years the spiritual and religious needs of its inhabitants, with exemplary fidelity and dedication to duty.
The solemnity of the day was recited by the monk Kosmas Simonopetritis, chief secretary of the Holy Community of Mount Athos.
The Divine Liturgy was attended by the Metropolitan of Nikaia, Konstantinos, the bishops of Amori Nikiforos and Medea Apostolos, lords of officials of the Holy Church of Christ the Great, the Greek ambassador to Ankara, Michael Christos Diamesis, MP Konstantinos Gioulekas, Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs of the Parliament, the members of the Special Standing Committee of the Parliament for the Hellenism of the Diaspora, under its chairman, MP Savva Anastasiadis, the consul general of Greece in the city, Georgia Sultanopoulou, factors of the Greek Diaspora, teachers and students of Zappeion and Lyceum Painting, and many believers from the city and abroad.
After the Dismissal, Ecumenical Patriarch awards the Office of Lord Asikritis to Anastasios Vavouskos, legal and canonical.
Subsequently, in the Community Hall the new deacon Nikiforos expressed his gratitude to His Holiness and assured him of his absolute devotion to the Mother Church.
