The celebration was organized by the Holy Diocese of Mexico and His Eminence the Metropolitan of Mexico, Mr.. It was an outstanding point of the festive events, following the initiative and related actions of Mslet Ekaterini Monogyou, the transfer to Havana - for the first time in history- of the Holy Relics of the Wonderworker Agios Nikolaos, which are kept in the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos in Syros.
Following the competently expressed proposal and initiatives of Mslet Monogyou, as well as after the relevant request of the Metropolitan of Mexico Mr. Athenagoras, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Syros, Mr. Dorotheus II, gave his blessed permission and order for the transfer of the Holy Relics, accompanied by the Reverend of the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos Hermoupolis, Syros, Archimandrite Benediktos Fragogiannis and the ecclesiastical commissioner. The celebrations were attended by the Vice President of Cuba, His Excellency Mr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, with whom she had an official meeting with the Cycladic State Mrsa Ekaterini Monogyou, during which they discussed possible cooperation between Greece and Cuba, especially in matters of tourism and getting to know the Cycladic area.
