The Holy Archdiocese of Athens is modernizing its transactions with citizens in order to reduce the bureaucratic procedures required for the issuance of marriage licenses and certificates, divorce and baptism……….
In this context, the Holy Archdiocese of Athens proceeded to sign a contract with the listed company Byte Computers ABEE for the implementation of a project, financed by the NSRF, which concerns the development of an Information Systems infrastructure for the implementation of electronic governance in the main areas of church administration (No. Proclamation 254/ 1-2-2013).
The price of the project amounts to 1.424.989,68 euro (plus VAT) and the total duration of its implementation is nine months from its start.
Overall, the project includes the supply and installation of IT equipment in the local parishes, the number of which is gradually expanding, in order to cover all their needs 166 parishes of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens. Essentially, an information communication network is created between the local parishes and the central structure of the Holy Archdiocese, to which the faithful will be able to refer even to determine the date of the performance of a sacrament, such as marriage or baptism.
The ten parishes where the pilot program is implemented include the Annunciation Cathedral, St.. Dionysios Aeropagitis of Kolonaki, Dormition of Theotokos Feneromenis Holargos, Prophet Ilias municipality of Ag. Friday, Evangelist Loukas Patision, St.. Filothei of the homonymous municipality, St.. Sophia Psychikou, St.. Ioannis Kynigos of Vouliagmenis avenue, St.. Irini Odou Aiolou and Ag. Nikolaos Kallithea.
As Chronis Tsianakas reported to APE-MPE, Head of the Press and Internet Office of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, the program is already being implemented on a pilot basis for the citizens of ten parishes and it is possible to submit applications for the issuance of a marriage license online, divorce and baptisms as well as the relevant certificates. This action will extend to 166 parishes of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, providing citizens with the possibility to be served electronically.
