From the 10 as of 17 February, in the building of the Greek Department of ICOMOS, where the Piraeus and Islands UNESCO Group is hosted, a seven-day "Tribute to Syros" is organized, with the aim of promoting the island, through……

various visual events, such as photo exposure, organ building, traditional products, gastronomy and presentation of traditional dances, music and hiking on the island.

This is an event, through which Syros will present, for the first time, maybe, time, not only its cultural past, but also its potential present, exhibiting its products, its development potential, but also the abilities and potential of its inhabitants to work and create, giving new perspectives and optimism for the future of the island and its inhabitants.

In this unique event to get to know modern Syros and its traditions, the Holy Metropolis of Syros also participates, in which he will present a prototype, interesting and informative digitized itinerary, referring to the Holy Temples of Syros, the architecture, their history and heritage, while the Protopr. Ioannis Angelidakis, on Saturday, 15 February will exhibit, on behalf of His Excellency Mr. Dorotheou B, the broadest social project and its more general interventions in the local community, to deal with today's difficulties.

Through art, the visitor will wander mentally through the narrows of Syros,

The cosmopolitan aura of the island will reach us through a photo exhibition
and visual arts, trekking, book presentation, organ building, traditional ones
products, gastronomy, traditional dances, video presentation and music.
The President of the Group for UNESCO of the Prefecture of Piraeus and Islands and
Vice President of the World Federation of Clubs, UNESCO Associations and Centers
(WFUCA), Responsible for Europe and North America Mr. Ioannis Maronitis
stated the following: "Syros, place unique both for history and for
his culture, which was characterized by Theophilus Gautier as “her navel
of Greece" could not be missing from our cultural activities.  We prepared a trip to Cycladic culture,
the ornate architecture, the history of rebetiko song and its
folk art and contemporary cultural activity. The passion of the Syrians
they give us inspiration and optimism for the future.”
